Drive-By Views in Woodstock, Connecticut

We had such a wonderful weekend in Connecticut, and the drive through Woodstock was one of the highlights. Rick even slowed down long enough for me to snap a few photos of this charming New England town and its beautiful countryside. From rolling fields and historic barns to vintage signs and a weathered camper tucked among the trees, Woodstock is full of roadside treasures that feel like little windows into the past.

There’s something wonderfully spontaneous about photographing from the passenger seat. You don’t always have time to stop, compose the perfect frame, or wait for the ideal light—but sometimes those quick glimpses make the most memorable images. This delightful slice of roadside nostalgia was too good to pass up. Maybe one day Rick will actually pull over so I can take my time, but for now, I’m happy to enjoy the drive-by views and all the classic New England charm along the way.We had such a great weekend in Connecticut—and, as always, the drive was part of the fun. Rick even slowed down long enough for me to grab a few photos as we passed through beautiful Woodstock.

This charming corner of northeastern Connecticut is filled with everything I love about New England: rolling green fields, historic farm buildings, big skies, and those unexpected roadside details that make you want to stop every few minutes. Even from the passenger seat, there was plenty to see—including this wonderful old Gravely sign standing proudly across from a working farm.

There’s something special about roadside photography. You don’t always have time to plan the shot or wait for perfect light. Sometimes you just spot a colorful sign, a weathered building, or a beautiful stretch of countryside and hope the camera is ready. These quick glimpses often become some of the most memorable photographs from a trip.

Maybe one day Rick will pullover so I can take my time—but for now, I’ll happily take the drive-by views! Woodstock has a way of making even an ordinary stretch of road feel like a little journey through New England history.
